July 5th Lesson

– Breastplate of righteousness

Memory Verse: Ephesians 6: 13-18

Put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

At Home Conversations:

Parents: Click on the below link for some verses to look up and read with your kids about righteousness.

  1. What is righteousness?

  2. Where does righteousness come from?

Parents pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show you which response is right for your children.

  1. When have you had a situation where you had to decide what is the right thing to do?  Were you able to choose righteousness?

If they did not choose the right thing: Gently empathize with your child. Let them know that they are fully forgiven, lead them in a prayer of repentance, and accept Jesus’s forgivenes. Have them askfor God to fully protect them with the breastplate of righteousness.

If they did choose righteousness:  Rejoice with them and lead them in prayer of praise, rejoicing and asking for God to continue to make righteousness part of life!  Declare that that they put on the breastplate of righteousness daily!

  1. Have your children put their hand over their heart as they pray, asking God to direct them
